Get to Know the PTA

The Jackson Davis PTA seeks to learn how we help the students and teachers. We are a laid back group that wants to learn more about your family’s needs and any ideas you might have for the school!

Please join us on Wednesday March 27th from 7:20-8am in the Jackson Davis Elementary Cafeteria. Coffee and pastry will be served. Please RSVP at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf8S_cdwriUZ6oZQR8-OFRM84Oyyv9fTE3d7vfaBRkpwDnluA/viewform?usp=sf_link so that we can ensure we have enough coffee and food for all.

Thanks!

Happy Fall and end of First Quarter

If you are like me you are shocked that fall came on so quickly and we are headed to school for parent/teacher conferences. I feel like it was yesterday in late August and we were starting school. Things have been moving so fast. Our book fair was a huge success this fall earning $1400 in funds for the PTA and $950 scholastic dollars to spend for the school. That is one of our largest sales ever and a huge thanks to Heidi Samuelson for flawlessly running the show. Our first ever “Books and Boos” helped draw in crowds in the middle of the week along with some Halloween crafting fun. We may look at making this a tradition in coming years.

We will be honoring our Veterans next week at our annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Tuesday the 14th at 8:30am. We are looking forward to a slide show and a presentation from the SCA. We are still looking for some help so if you could pickup morning coffee carafes or help me setup/unload my car it would be greatly appreciated. Click here to help.

We are looking for more pies for our wonderful JDES teachers for our annual pie day. We are still about 37 pies short and we are looking to send each teacher home with a pie to help take the load off of them and ensure they have a relaxing break. Please click here if you can bake or buy a donation. The hospitality committee will be available Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st in the carpool lane to accept the pies during the morning drop-off. We will be providing the teachers the pies on Tuesday for their Thanksgiving dinners.

Our next huge event is right after Thanksgiving and that is our annual Bingo night on Thursday, November 30th at 5:15pm in the Cafeteria. Space is limited and sign-up begins tomorrow on November 9th. The attachment to this post or at the top will help take you to the signup or and to also help if you can bring some prizes or volunteer.

Lastly, our next PTA meeting is on Tuesday, November 14th at 6pm either in the Library or Cafeteria depending on what is going on but we will be there and kids are always welcome.

More fun will be coming in the winter with our winter parties, variety show and more. Happy Fall!

Happy October and Spirit Wear Store Opening!

Happy October and Spirit Wear Store Opening!
JDES Families and teachers, It seemed just like yesterday that I thought school was starting way too soon and now it is almost October. I want to thank you all for all of your support for the Dolphin Fund this year. We raised $8749 and that was so close to our goal of $9000 it makes my heart so full. There are so many wonderful things that we are able to do for the students with these funds including supporting one school one book, a yearly $2k allocation for one of the specials, field trips and more. Here are the winning classes which will each get a donut party:

Kindergarten – Dunkum
1st – Patnaude
2nd – Parrish
3rd – Cover
4th – Cochran
5th – Cangelosi

Last week we had popsicles on the playground and the PTA was overjoyed at number of JDES children who came out to have fun and a treat. We bought 200 popsicles and ran out at the very end. Seeing 40% of the school out and about was such a joy. We are going to continue to try and have another informal event on Wednesday October 18th from 4:30-5:30. The book fair will also be open at this time for shopping. Speaking of the book fair, it will run from Oct. 16th – 20th. Please be on the lookout for more information. Lastly, as you can see above, the JDES Spirit Wear store will be opening from Oct. 2nd – 16th. Our very own JDES teacher, Mrs. Smith, has done an amazing job organizing and there is a great selection of cute gear!

We would also love to see you at our next PTA meeting on Tuesday the 17th at 6pm (location TBD at school). We would love input on everything we have done thus far and more ideas. I am looking forward to more fun this month along with some cool weather.

Thanks!
Erin Nielsen, PTA President

Open House

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! If you are like me you may be asking where summer went but also looking forward to the kids being at wonderful Jackson Davis. As you already read from Mrs. Bonner’s family update, our Open House will be on Thursday, Aug. 17th from 12-2pm. The PTA will have tables set up to answer any questions, help direct you to your child’s classroom and if you’re interested, you can purchase PTA memberships, spirit wear and yearbooks! On the back of the map of the school will be our Calendar of events, so be sure to check that out!

Our pending budget will be posted on the website soon as well as our current year board list, so take a few minutes to look through what our PTA has been working on so far. We will vote on this budget at our first general PTA meeting which will be at Back to School Night on August 30th! Our Dolphin Fund will kick off the third week of school this year and will run from Sept 5-15th! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are also planning on hosting some other types of events throughout the school year and there will be a return of after school enrichment in the Winter/Spring. We are looking to make lots of magic happen this year with our wonderful teachers and staff. Hope you all had a wonderful summer and we can’t wait to see you in the coming weeks as we kick off another awesome school year!! As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions!
