Congratulations Dolphins! Thank you parents!

Wow- what a fantastic Dolphin Fund Drive we had this year! At the end of the two week drive, we had met our goal of raising $8000. We raised $8736.46!  We continued to receive donations the next week, including a $1000 donation from Patient First which has put our grand total at approximately $9967.46. Way to go Dolphins! Thank you parents, families, friends, businesses, and Patient First. We appreciate your support!

Joshua Fleming, from Mrs. Parkinson’s class, was the lucky student that was selected to throw pie in Mrs. Bonner’s face! Thanks to everyone that sent in donations on the last day of our drive and was entered into this special contest.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night is Thursday, September 14th

Back to School Night

The PTA will have spirit wear and membership tables set up in the cafeteria beginning at 5:45. We hope you will stop by!  Help us reach our membership goal and join PTA today for $5 per person. We’ve had a great response so far – thank you!

At the beginning of the 1st session, we will hold a brief PTA meeting broadcast to each room. Expect to hear about the proposed budget for the year, the audit that was completed over the summer, and an update on our membership drive!

Families will also receive the PTA “packet” that evening which will include our year long calendar of events, save the dates, and information about easy ways to help our school earn money.  We appreciate all your do for our school!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

Can you believe school starts in 10 days?!  It’s going to be a great year. The Jackson Davis Elementary theme is “Our Future Looks Bright”…. I see lots of neon in our future!  Don’t forget– do your ZippSlipp paperwork so you can see your teacher assignment on Monday and join us for Open House on Thursday August 31 from 12:30-2:30. Stop by the PTA tent to join and snap a picture at our photo booth.

Please take some time to review out PTA website. Check out the executive board, calendar of events, and complete the volunteer form if you are interested in helping out in any way. We would love to have you!

The JDES PTA has been working hard this summer to complete some summer projects to support the teachers and implement a new online directory/store/communication system called MySchoolAnywhere. We are so excited about the opportunity to increase communication with all of our families! Please be on the look-out for an email asking you to confirm information. It is not spam! Remember, you can opt out of the email subscription at any time but must do so by visiting the website. This site also allows us to manage an online store that will allow parents to join the PTA, purchase yearbooks, and other items throughout the year. It’s so easy!

Our goals for the year are to increase communication and engage all families. Please reach out if you  have any suggestions or ideas!  Email us at: brightjdespta@gmail.com

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Christina Vitek, JDES PTA President 2017-18

JDES Needs Your Voice: Henrico Bond Referendum

As you may be aware, five bond referendum questions will be placed on the Nov. 8, 2016  general-election ballot in Henrico.   One of these referendums includes $272.6 million for school projects.  NONE of this money is allocated for Jackson Davis Elementary.  Our school has a number of needs simply due to the fact that we are 50+ years old.  It is up to US, as parents, to speak up and advocate for our needs and for our children.  Please mark your calendar for Thursday, October 13 at 7 pm.  We will have a Bond Referendum Speaker’s Bureau from the Henrico Board of Supervisors present to educate us on the Referendum process so that we can speak up, advocate for our school needs, and be a vocal presence when it comes to future opportunities for funding.  Please check out http://henrico.us/bonds/ and join us in the cafeteria on October 13 at 7.  Spread the word – there is power in numbers!
